What are the best Cruise Ships in Port Canaveral, Florida?
A review of the pristine cruise ships and their respective world-renowned cruise lines.
If you’re planning a cruise soon, you may be overwhelmed by the amount of cruise ships that belong to a number of different cruise lines. Any of them would be a relaxing get-away from the “land lubbers” to various different tropical paradises. However, these cruises do vary quite significantly from each other depending on how you like to travel and what your priorities are. So, we’ve concocted this list to help you in your research when choosing a cruise in Port Canaveral, Florida.
The magical Disney cruise line started in the 90’s and are a great choice for a family cruise. The Fantasy is the latest and greatest ship currently in their fleet. It’s sister-ship, the Dream, is a year older, and very similar. These two ships were launched as part of their Dream Class of ships in the early 2010’s and are almost 50% larger than their predecessors from the 90’s. They’re said to be as long as the Eiffel Tower is tall! The main difference between the Disney Fantasy and the Dream are their itineraries. The Dream has only three-to-five-night itineraries to the Bahamas, while the Fantasy has seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The Fantasy has tons of kid-friendly dining options, shows, mascots and events! They even have a “bibbidy bobbidy boutique” for your little girl or boy to dress up as princess and knights for a medieval fantasy experience! You really can’t go wrong with any Disney cruise, it’s an adventure that your family will always remember and a memory your children will cherish.
A less family and child-oriented ship is the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway. This boat is very similar to their Epic cruise ship, but fairly smaller and with reportedly better accommodations. A solo traveler or couple would fit in great on this ship, with their spacious and luxurious staterooms and suites. A passenger will enjoy high class food at five-star restaurants on board such as celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s Ocean Blue. Dine out on your way to Bermuda, Bahamas, and the Southern Caribbean, all locations included in their itineraries. A good choice for sure!
In 2017, Carnival did a massive overhaul to their ship, the Elation! Sporting a new restaurant, bar, and cosmetic upgrades, the Elation is in style and better than ever. Other ships in their fleet based out of Port Canaveral are the Sunshine, Breeze, and Liberty ships. Carnival is a reputable cruise line, known for great service and wonderful trips. Surely you can’t go wrong with the Elation of any of their other fine ships.
Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas
Tried and true, Royal Caribbean is the oldest cruise line on this list, and therefore with the most experience and roots in their culture. The Harmony of the Seas was built in 2015 as part of their Oasis-class of ships. These are the largest cruise ships in the world! Featuring 7 “neighborhoods” on deck, you will have tons of ship to explore with fun activities and good eats. They even have an aqua theater and zip-line. Needless to say, these boats are huge. The others that dock in Port Canaveral are the Enchantment of the Seas, and the Mother of the Seas. If you’re more of the adventurous type that doesn’t like to run out of things to do and people to meet, this is the cruise for you.
