Port Canaveral Voted Best Cruise Port in 2019 by Global Travelers Magazine Readers
Port Canaveral’s expansion and growth has paid off. Global Travelers magazine puts out voting survey’s each year on all things travel, called Leisure Lifestyle Awards. Each month the surveys feature different items and are open-ended for readers to fill in their favorites.
Port Canaveral has four different cruise line companies to choose from. They include Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Norwegian Cruise lines. Each cruise line has at least two different vessels that disembark from Port Canaveral. They have dedicated cruise terminals that each cruise line uses. The larger cruise days are Mondays, Fridays and Saturday’s with 3-4 ships in port. Port Officials report about 4.5 million people passed through last year.
Currently there are five cruise port terminals operating with two more under construction now. In 2020 cruise terminal 2 and 3 are slated to be complete. Carnival Cruise line will be introducing its newest ship called Mardi Gras. It will be disembarking form the new terminal 3 at Port Canaveral.
Cruise travel is on the rise and Port Canaveral will continue to grow with the demand. Port Canaveral is also a port-of-call for some cruise itineraries. The Cove area of Port Canaveral is home to several eateries, fishing charters, gift shops, marina’s and parks. The clean-up project is underway and will eventually create a more interesting port experience.
